Fall Series: How to Crush Obstacles

How can women overcome challenges to thrive in their careers and make a greater impact in their communities?  The upcoming Great Dames Powerful Conversation Speaker Series will answer that question on Oct. 9 and Nov. 13, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Harry’s Savoy Grill in North Wilmington. Tickets are on sale now.

“Women Crushing Obstacles” kicks off on October 9 with former First Lady of Delaware Carla Markell, One Village Alliance Founder Chandra Pitts, Delaware Arts Alliance Executive Director Guillermina Gonzalez and David Letterman’s costume designer Susan Hum.  All four women beat significant odds to serve their communities in meaningful ways while developing highly respected careers.

On November 13, DuPont’s former chair and CEO Ellen Kullman examines gender parity. The internationally-known executive and pioneer retired from the corporate world and now co-chairs Paradigm for Parity. She will explain why gender parity matters, and how all women, even those who work in male-dominated fields, can crush the obstacles.

“Ellen, Carla, Chandra, Susan and Guillermina will share stories that will inspire anyone who has approached a professional crossroads and feels limited by a lack of access and support,” says Great Dames President Sharon Kelly Hake. “We are particularly grateful to Xavier Teixido and Harry’s Savoy Grill for hosting our events for the third season. They are strong supporters of Great Dames and gender parity.”
